Point Tuck

A clean, creased tuck at the foot of the bed gives an immediate first impression that the room is fresh, tidy, and carefully assembled. Baseball Town Motel uses a variation on the hospital-style bed fold.

  1. Drape sheet and blanket over bed

    1. Both should reach 2 inches beyond the head of the bed, and drape evenly over the bottom

    2. Make a valley fold 20 inches from the head of the bed

    3. Place pillows on top of this fold so that the pillows slightly overlap the sheet fold

  2. Tuck the middle of the foot of the bed

  3. Stretch out the blanket, straight from the top-left or top-right corner of the foot

  4. Pull a diagonal crease toward the foot and tuck

  5. Fold the sheet over the pillow forming a bubble

  6. Tuck the blanket into the sides

Hard surfaces

Every surface needs to be sanitized & wiped, including light switches, doorknobs, appliances, and remote controls.

  • Place remote controls near the night stand or near the TV

  • Report if the Cisco remote is missing

Towels

Follow the Linen Spreadsheet for towel placement and amounts for each room.

 

Bulk fold

Use for visible towels on shelves: Makes towel look fluffier, bad for stacking, but makes it easy to tell if towel has been moved

Bath Towels & Hand Towels Bulk Fold

  1. Stretch towel away from you with band and tag at bottom

  2. Fold up so bands are even

  3. Fold folded edge at bottom up again (quartered)

  4. Roll in thirds from left to right

    • Band is visible on top of the towel

Wash Cloths Bulk Fold

  1. Fold in half and roll so that band is visible on one side of wash cloth

Final touches

Make sure the room is inviting for the guests.

  • Ensure all light switches function

    • If a lamp is still off when then light switch is turned on, check for a pull chain or switch on the lamp itself

  • Room fans should turn on with the light switches too

  • Refrigerators must be emptied of all contents

  • Visible towels must be folded neatly

    • washcloths should be rolled

    • hand and bath towels are bulk-folded

    • towels underneath bathroom sinks may use the standard laundry fold, as they come from the cleaning service

  • Apply a triangle fold to the toilet paper

    • Leave two extra rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom

    • The triangle fold involves two 45 degree angle folds under the sheet to hide any frayed edge on the roll

      • Mountain-fold (underneath) the corner of the bottom left edge to the right side

      • Repeat, with formed point on bottom right side to the left edge forming a point in the center

  • Turn off lights and air conditioning
